Climate

Thanks to our comprehensive greenhouse gas balance according to the categories of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, we have an overview of our carbon footprint along the entire supply chain – from production and packaging to the stores and logistics.

What we are committed to:

  • By 2033, we will reduce emissions in our stores, office buildings and logistics centres by 45 % and along our supply chain by 30 %.
  • By 2050, we will reduce emissions in our stores, office buildings and logistics centres and along our supply chain by 90 %.

To this end, we have significantly expanded our database, introduced new tools for calculating emissions and hired experts for climate strategy. In future, we want to raise awareness of the impact we have on the climate in all organisational units.

Energy & Logistics

In addition to the selection of materials for our products, energy efficiency and the switch to renewable energies are one of the most important levers for reducing emissions, both at our sites and in our supply chain. We are expanding energy-efficient LED lighting and procuring and generating renewable energies. Our logistics centre in Bedburg, for example, is built to KFW 55 standards and DGNB "Gold" certification standard and is powered exclusively by biogas.

We also focus on CO₂ reduction, short transport routes and efficient planning in transport and logistics. Third-party brand products are delivered directly to regional distribution centres, while our exclusive brands** are distributed via an import hub in Rotterdam. We prefer sea freight to air freight for around 90 % of our transport. CO₂ emissions resulting from online orders that cannot be reduced are offset by our logistics partners, such as DHL GoGreen.

Environment

Conserving nature – our soil, our water and our biodiversity – slows down climate change and secures the resources that we as people and companies depend on.

What we are committed to:

  • By 2030, we will know the impact on the environment, water and biodiversity in our supply chain and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and country-specific regulations on this basis.

We have analysed how our activities affect the environment and what environmental risks we ourselves are exposed to – with the aim of identifying strategically important topics for the coming years. Building on this, we are now developing better data, for example on water consumption and water pollution in the production of our exclusive brand products. We also want to develop a better understanding of the impact that production has on biodiversity.
