We are a family business with over 120 years of experience in the fashion industry. Our focus has always been on the people who work for and with us, as well as on high-quality product standards. This commitment remains at the core of our business today. It is also the reason why we strive to promote responsible fashion not only in terms of ecological criteria but also social standards across the entire supply chain. These are the conditions we believe are necessary for a more sustainable and future-proof fashion industry. Therefore, we set minimum requirements and standards for all products we sell.

For our exclusive brands**, we can ensure high standards ourselves. That’s why our subsidiary responsible to produce our exclusive brands, International Brands Company (IB Company GmbH & Co. KG), is certified under textile standards such as the Organic Content Standard, Recycled Claim Standard, Responsible Wool Standard, Responsible Alpaca Standard, and Responsible Mohair Standard.

For third-party brands, we work closely with our partners and establish clear guidelines for responsible production and certified materials in our supplier guidelines, also known as supplier handbooks.

In our seal standard, we have defined which sustainability labels from independent third parties we recognize. Our focus is on responsible materials that are sourced and produced in a resource-efficient way, production methods with higher environmental and social standards, and the use of recycled fibers. A product must consist of at least 30% materials that meet these standards. We distinguish between licensed materials, such as Tencel and Lenzing, and certified materials. We reassess the seal standard annually to ensure it meets our expectations for quality, relevance, and traceability.

With our exclusive brand Jake*s Studio, we have been offering collections since 2023 that consist exclusively of products with sustainability seals from independent third parties.

Animal welfare

In addition to people and the environment, the protection of animal welfare is also important to us. For several years, we have refrained from using real fur in our collections. In 2023, we joined the Fur Free Retailer Program of the Fur Free Alliance and publicly declared our stance against the use and sale of real fur. Furthermore, we have developed an animal welfare policy in collaboration with the experienced experts from the animal protection organization VIER PFOTEN. This policy outlines our expectations and principles for the respectful treatment of all animals throughout our supply chains.

Our services for long-lasting fashion

Future-oriented fashion must be durable. Offering products made from high-quality materials is the first step – but we don’t stop there. We want to inspire our customers to choose durable products and support them in consciously consuming, caring for, and using fashion for a long time. Our employees in the stores take the time to provide expert advice on style and sustainability aspects of our products. Through our free INSIDER program, customers can book a 60-minute personal shopping consultation at all our locations.

Even after purchase, we are here for our customers. In our online shop, we provide detailed care instructions for various materials, offer cleaning tips, and simple guides for small repairs.

In around 40 in-house alteration workshops, we tailor clothing to fit perfectly – even if it wasn’t purchased with us. Each year, our tailors carry out several hundred thousand alterations and repairs. It is important to us that this service is accessible to everyone through attractive pricing.
